WORLD WATER DAY

Every 22nd of March of each year, World Water Day is celebrated across the globe, a means to refocus our efforts on the conservation and the sustainable management of water and other freshwater resources.

In fact, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in one of the hadiths: “Do not waste water even if you were at a running stream.” It clearly shows how vital the role of water is in Islam. Thus, as we all celebrate World Water Day with the global theme “Leaving no one behind”, let us not forget that millions of people still spend their daily lives without access to safe water, and that must send a message to all of us that the conservation and sustainable management of water is everyone’s duty and responsibility.

“Whoever you are, wherever you are, water is your human right.”

— Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, BARMM-MENRE
